Mussoliniââ¬â¢s Battle for Births Policy Essay -- Italian Government, Pol
scratch A- Plan of InvestigationWhat was the impact of Mussolinis Battle for Births polity on Italy between 1926 and 1945? The investigation testament focus on economic and social impacts of the Battle for Births. Mussolini demanded that the Italian community grow rapidly and abundantly, without regard to the consequences that would chase a sudden increase in population. In order to successfully investigate this question, the motives for the policy and the means of enforcing the policy, such as taxes, organizations, and incentives, will also adopt to be analyzed. In addition, two of the sources that will be used to support this investigation, Mussolini and Fascism by Patricia Knight and Battle for Births The Fascist Pronatalist Campaign in Italy 1925 to 1938 by Lauren E. Forcucci will be evaluated for their origins, purposes, values, and limitations. This investigation will not include the impact of Mussolinis Battle for Grain, Battle for Land, or Battle for Lira in relation to his Battle for the Births. Section B- Summary of EvidenceAfter World War I, Mussolinis Battle for Births, a campaign designed to increase the population of Italy by increasing the birth rate, commenced in 1925 (Forcucci 1). Mussolini proposed, Italy, if she is to count for anything in the world, must have a population of not less than sixty meg inhabitants by the middle of this century(Knight 67). He feared that Italy would be unable to defend herself against the surrounding populations, such as the Germans, who numbered up to ninety million, and the Slavs, who approximated up to two hundred million (Smith 160). Nevertheless, expanding the countrys population from forty million to sixty million people would be a real feat (Ho... ...particular fascist policy of Mussolinis. Section E- ConclusionBenito Mussolinis Battle for Births encompassed the core of Fascist Italy. The soul of an immense fascist population is uncompromising nationalism. As a dictator, he not only when seized co ntrol of economic, political, and religious affairs of Italy, but also of the social affairs, intervening with the idea of an ideal family. Mussolini did not manage to salvage the plummeting birth rate that chase after World War I, or to reconstruct his prized ancient Rome, or to strengthen his army with this battle.Hence, Mussolinis failure of a policy can only seize one evident constructive outcome. It strengthened the fascist Italian woman and secured her role. The Battle for Births increased the percentage of women in the work force, turning them away from their designated and conventional roles unintentionally.

The University Education: A Religious Experience :: University Education
The University Education A Religious ExperienceIf I cute to do an over-view of my thoughts astir(predicate) the university being related to religion for a layman who doesnt understand anything beneath the surface, then my first paper would be a success. lay myself in an educated persons position of having to read that as a college essay, I would be insulted. Of course this is a post-English 220 thought. Ive opened up to find myself more since then. Im non saying that vex found my perfect style. Ive found a new style in myself other than the Official Style.Im writing for you in a close version of the O.S. because this is an explanation about my own writing and I feel that this is the best way to *explain*. Dont worry, by the end Im sure that Ill have fallen away. Ive taken a close look at this paper of mine entitled _The University Education A Religious Experience_ and found that my thoughts about the allegory havent changed a lot. Im the type of person who finds little religious quirks in everything, though (A result of accepting evolution seeing the Bible as a thump of parables and tall tales - including Genesis and the entire New Testament reading Don Delillos _White Noise_ , Heinleins _A Stranger in a Strange Land_, Baudelaires Voyage rebelling my over-religious, over-hypocritic mother oh ya. Moliere and Chaucer learning about different cultures and religions etc., etc.). I like comparing people and their actions, myself included, to Christian rituals and events. When it comes to the university as a religion, this comparing multiplies because so many of us here take our grooming as a life or death matter. And I think it should be. Of course there are those who are hypocritic in the university life - dont worry they pop out a few second chances and are then abandoned. Im on one of my second chances.Yes, I feel the same way about my metaphor as I did when I wrote this introduction paper. No, I dont like paper because if I were to truly put effort into the it now I would not have create verbally it that way. My style is much different now (A result of this class and my new interest in fiction writing from Eng. 218). I like to lay things amidst the lines - let the reader work a little. Im not a combination of Elliot and Pound, nor do I intend to be.

The Weakness of Servant Leadership Essay -- Servant Leaders are Wimps
After reading various essays and commentaries on consideration leadership I thought about a criticism of the theory that wasnt addressed in the readings. Are servant leaders taken advantage of and in certain instances seen as pushovers rather than true leaders? If we review the basic concept of servant leadership, my definition would be a leader who does whats necessary to ensure his followers are successful. Is this what you really want from a leader? In my legal opinion that answer is no, you want a leader to exhibit these I will help you by all means characteristics in certain situations, but not all of the time. If this is done all of the time I see this leader as a targeted pushover. The lesson commentary referenced the role of parenthood as an type of servant leadership. Parents serve their childrens needs so that the children can develop into healthy adultsso that they can help their own children develop (Lesson 11 Commentary, p. 2 Houston). For us parents out there, we kno w that this can be a slippery slope. If you always come to the rescue of the child, they will not learn ...
Analysis of The Allegory of the Cave by Plato :: Philosophy Plato
An Analysis of The Allegory of the Cave by PlatoThe Allegory of the Cave is Platos explanation of the education of the soul toward enlightenment. He sees it as what happens when soul is educated to the level of philosopher. He contends that they must go back into the cave or return to the everyday macrocosm of politics, greed and power struggles. The Allegory as well attacks people who rely upon or are slaves to their senses. The chains that bind the prisoners are the senses. The fun of the allegory is to try to put all the details of the cave into your interpretation. In other words, what are the models the guards carry? the fire? the struggle out of the cave? the sunlight? the shadows on the cave wall? Socrates, in Book VII of The Republic, near after the allegory told us that the cave was our world and the fire was our sun. He said the path of the prisoner was our souls ascent to knowledge or enlightenment. He equated our world of sight with the intellects world of opinion. Bo th were at the bottom of the ladder of knowledge. Our world of sight allows us to see things that are not real, such as double lines and perfect circles. He calls this higher understanding the world abstract Reality or the Intelligeble world. He equates this abstract reality with the knowledge that comes from reasoning and finally understanding. On the physical side, our world of sight, the stages of growth are first recognition of images (the shadows on the cave wall) then the recognition of objects (the models the guards carry) To understand abstract reality requires the understanding of math and finally the forms or the Ideals of all things (the world outside the cave). But our understanding of the physical world is mirrored in our minds by our ways of thinking. First comes caprice (Socrates thought little of creativity), then our unfounded but real beliefs. Opinion gives way to knowledge through reasoning (learned though mathematics). Finally, the realization of the forms is mirrored by the level of Understanding in the Ways of Thinking. The key to the struggle for knowledge is the reasoning skills acquired through mathematics as they are applied to understanding ourselves. The shadows on the cave wall change continually and are of little worth, but the reality out side the cave never changes and that makes it important.

Jews and Christians Essay
Islam is a monotheistic religion based upon the teachings of Muhammad, a 7th century Arab religious and political figure. It is the second-largest religion in the creation today, with an estimated 1. 4 billion adherents, known as Muslims. Islam is considered one of the second largest religions in Europe today especially in France and the United Kingdom. In regions like the midway East, North Africa, south and central Asia, Islam is the dominant religion. The core belief of Muslims is that theology revealed himself to all mankind through his Prophet Muhammad, and he gave his holy book, the Quran which embodies the core, teachings and traditions of the Sunnah which is considered as the basic sources of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad is regarded by Muslims as the true and final illusionist of God. Islam, like Judaism and saviourianity is also an Abrahamic religion.Muslims belief that God revealed his final message to Muhammad through the nonesuch Gabriel, and that message is the trut h of salvation and shall hold true until the day a of resurrection, that the holy Quran is the infallible word of God and has the seal of the prophets. Muslims belief that the core message of Islam, which is the worship of one God, is the same message preached by the all messengers that God has sent before Muhammad. Muslims also belief that the coming of Muhammad was the cache in Gods revelation of himself to mankind, the end of all the messages of one God which has been preached since the time of Adam.Muslims call for their religion as the original and the final message of God to mankind, and see Christianity and Judaism as a distortion of the original revelation of God to Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad. There are several similarities that run through these three religions. Geographically, they all seem to turn over their origins in the Middle East. They all lay claim to the most prominent religious figures the world has ever known i. e. .Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, as the ir forebears. The Quran even acknowledges Jesus Christ as a major prophet who walked the face of this earth and had a distinct knowledge of God. Islam acknowledges the practitioners of Christianity and Judaism as the people of the letter, which is to say that they are people who project received divine scriptures. All these not withstanding, Muslims believe that the final and truthful revelation of God and the right way of worship came through the holy prophet Muhammad. Muslims believe that Islam is the right way of worship, of seeking God and of attaining salvation and therefore they must seek to win more peoples unto the Allah.Like the Jews, who saw a non Israelite as a gentile, any one other non-Muslim is an infidel. They also belief that Allah appreciates it very much when you die a violent death defending the faith of Islam and that mechanically grants you grace favor and salvation before the lord, Infact, you go straight to heaven which is the ultimate reward of serving God he re on earth except as Christians believe. In conclusion, Islam sees itself as superior to Christianity and Judaism because they believe its the total revelation of God of himself unto mankind.

Implications of the Bertrand Model
In 1893 French economist Joseph Bertrand developed his Bertrand model of competition from his review of Antoine Cournots study of a Spring Water duopoly. His chiding lay with how trues in oligopolies compete. In his model rigids compete with bells rather than Cornots quantities. (REFERENCE TO SPANISH JOURNAL) The model consists of two riotouss who descend prices simultaneously and independently (HUGH GRAVIELLE AND AY REES, MICROECONOMICES), jean tiral explains this as when mavin firm sets its price it is ignorant to its rivals price, rather it anticipates what they will charge. It is assumed products are homogeneous and perfective substitutes (ECCSTRAT) and due to the nature of the product the firm supplying output at the junior-gradeest price will gain the entire market demand. (GB ) This firm will have to supply all the outgoing demand at the price they have set gb1 from this an important self-assertion of the model is that there are no capacity constraints, that both fi rms have the like marginal cost, which remains constant, and that demand is liner.GB2 As stated, the entire market demand for homogeneous products will go to the firm offering the lowest price, although if both firms were to cheat on at the same price a sharing rule must be assumed GB2. Using an example from the ((((((( lets suppose the market demand for a homogeneous product is given by, Q = 120-p (where Q is quantity demanded and p is price charged). The marginal cost (MC) for both producers is, C=$30, and both producers sell output at p=c=$30. The demand for each producer is Q=0. 5*120-p=45.Lets say producer A increased their price to c=$31, the entire market demand would agitate to producer B who would now have a demand function of Qb=120-c=90, while producer A would have zero demand. However if producer A had reduced their price to c=$29, they would capture the entire market demand through charging the lowest cost, however they would make a $1 loss in each product sold. Fro m this, the Nash equilibrium for the Bertrand model lies where P=MC, with demand so heavily influenced by price producers do not want to be slice by rivals. With P=MC no rival will undercut as zero profits are preferable to negative profits, and any firm trying to charge above the MC and make ordained profits will receive no sales. The suggestion is the addition of one firm restores perfect market competition (Jean Tirole, 1998), moving the market form monopoly power and profits (maximum inefficiency) to perfectly competitive (maximum efficiency). It had been deemed a paradox as it is difficult to believe that two firms in a duopolistic market can make zero profits. We are able to resolve Bertrands paradox through relaxing and of the three built-in assumptions of the model (intro to industrial org l. M. B Cabrail). In order to analyse its practical relevance and its implications, this essay will now give examples of where the paradox can be deconstructed. The first example of a sol ution comes from a combination of two assumptions, the first is the absence of capacity constraints, and the second firms make decisions independently. In the model whichever firm firm is charging the lowest price will receive the entire market demand, and is expected to supply all forthcoming demand at the price it has set (old xavior). at that place are few situations in the real world where one firm could satisfy the demand of the whole market. Using the previous example, producer B gained the entire market demand (Q=120-$30=90). Lets assume producer B has a capacity constraint below 90 units. There is now a proportion of the market that can only be satisfied by producer A, who can use monopoly power and make positive profits as the only producer. (managerial Economics a strategic approach). This example shows how with the inclusion of a common real world problem, Bertrands proposed equilibrium of price equal to marginal cost is deconstructed. A second implication of capacity cons traints is their effect on collision between firms. Collusion reduces market competiveness, firms tactically hold to set prices above particular levels and to not to engage in price wars,(REF).A positive relationship between excess capacity and collusion was set by David and Deneckere, who found excess capacity is a prerequisite for stable collusion while it provides a stronger bargaining position within cartels (QUOTE TO JOURNALS THAT ARE ON JUIBILEE AND WOLF). These effects have been see in oil cartel OPEC, which has existed since the second world war and where the largest producer, Saudi Arabia can flood the market if small producers cheat on their quotas. (paul Pijush).Through years of controlling supply and therefore price the carte will receive one trillion dollars in revenues this year, (Wall street post). The prisoners predicament is a particular plunk for between two captured prisoners that illustrates why cooperation is difficult to maintain even when mutually benefici al (REF). It helps to demonstrate the logic behind Bertrands Paradox. Both firms would benefit from charging a price higher(prenominal) than marginal cost, however at this level both firms have an incentive to undercut one another. (managerial economics). If the rules of the game can be changed each agent would receive a higher revenue payoff. (Global Business Mike W peng). Two companies who saw this were General electric car (GE) and Westinghouse. In the early 1960s these two companies controlled over 98% of the US market for large turbine generators. Prior to purchase, electric utilities would negotiate with GE and Westinghouse who, as in Bertrand competition, competed on price. Government owned utilities accounted for twenty five percent of the market share and by law had to purchase from the cheapest provider and publish the price. The two firms generated low profit, as Bertrand competition predicts, until GE changed the rules of the game by introducing a price book. The process effectively set a higher market price and guaranteed higher profits, the price publishing behaviour continued successfully until 1975 when the US Department of Justice investigated the industry. Price books were ruled to breach anti-competition laws and the firms were fined. The book, Technology and Transformation in the American Electric Utility Industry by Richard F.Hirsh goes into this example in much greater depth. This is an important example as it demonstrates that Bertrand competition can exist in the real world. However the assumption of zero profits, or in the example, low profits encourages companies to collude to set higher prices and make positive profits. The Bertrand model overly assumes that with the entrant of a second firm into the market, and the subsequent Nash equilibrium, price equal to marginal cost, removes the need for policy makers to intervene. However form the previous example this is manifestly false as policy makers did have to intervene and sanctions w ere made. To stress this point, another example Pakistans Federal Cabinet moved powers of oil price fixation to the Oil Companies Advisory Committee in 2001, through flawed polices profits of the duopolists Pakistan State Oil and Shell Pakistan increased by 232% between 2001 to 2005. which lead to advertise state involvement to enforce price restrictions and encourage competition. (competition reporter. 25,05,2009).In the Bertrand model we assumed that both firms had the same costs of production which remain constant. It is an extreme assumption that two firms would incur exactly the same costs when producing their products, let us now assume that one firm had a cost advantage, i. e. firm A can produce marginally less expensively that firm B (cA

High School District Essay
Declining luxuriously nurture dropout judge continue to reflect on the American educational system. Dropout charge per unit for high school students refer to the sum of individuals deep down the high school age range, between 16 to 24 years of age, who charter not enrolled in school, obtained a high school diploma, or achieved equivalency financial backing when compared to the general population for this age range. case statistical data indicates that the dropout pose decreased by 6 percent from 15 percent in 1972 to 9 percent in 2006. A similar decrease by 2 percent from 11 percent in 2000 to 9 percent in 2006 as well as occurred.(National Center for Education Statistics, 2008) There are differing interpretations of the implications of these statistics particularly on developments in the educational system. Some consider this a positive reflection on the educational system while others recognize this as the persistence of the problems. Regardless of the perspective, the r elative dropout rate points to improvements in the go of people not enrolling or completing high school as well as an area for further improvement. Dropping out from high school has adverse consequences to individuals and the broader community. On the part of individuals, majority of those who have dropped out of high school were unable to find jobs or engage in odd jobs (Stanard, 2003). Even if employed, on that point are limited opportunities for career advancement. Income would in like manner likely remain low. (Campbell, 2004) This affects long-term financial security. On the part of communities, the dropout rate means more people likely to become dependent on the fond welfare program of the government. This also translates into greater risk of involvement in alcoholism and drug use likely to co-occur with criminal activity.(Martin, Tobin & Sugai, 2002) Even with a decreased dropout rate, it is important to continue addressing this issue by getting at the root of the problem . While the dropout rate has declined, on that point is no change in the dropout rates when considering all races. The racial gap over the dropout rate remained the same. (Heckman & LaFontaine, 2007 National Center for Education Statistics, 2008) In comparing the dropout rate among Caucasians and Hispanics, the difference or gap in drop out rate is 20 percent in 1980 and 19 percent in 2000.Two reasons account for the nil change in the racial gap over the dropout rate between Caucasians and Hispanics. angiotensin converting enzyme is the census bias with Hispanic immigrants who have not graduated from high school included in the statistical data (Christle, Jolivette & Nelson, 2007). This gives rise to the issue of the evaluation of statistical measures and variables in determining dropout rates. The rise in Hispanic immigrants kept a high dropout rate for Hispanics even if the national dropout rate has declined. Another is school related factors that cause the racial disparity in d ropout rate at the soils and district levels (Orfield et al., 2004). This means that there are race related school factors at the local level that contribute to the persistence of a huge gap between the dropout rates of Caucasians and Hispanics. One factor is the extent of inclusion or seclusion of minority students in various high schools of antithetical districts (Heckman & LaFontaine, 2007). Another factor is the lower socio-economic status or higher poverty rates of minority high school students in various school districts leading to higher dropout rates (Orfield et al. , 2004).There are differences in the causes of dropout rates at the state or district level because of variances in the existing determining factors and the impact of these factors on racial disparity in dropout rates. convey or district level studies are important in identifying and sagacity the root cause of the racial gap in dropout rates. In the state of California, there is a concentration of dropout rat es in certain schools. There are 2,462 high schools in the state but 100 of these high schools contribute 40 percent of students dropping out from high school.Of this number, 25 high schools account for 21 percent of the dropout rate. The mean rate of high school drop outs in the state is 3. 5 percent and most of the high schools in California report a dropout rate that is lower or equal to the average. Of the total number of schools in California, 76 schools have a more than 50 percent dropout rate. However, there are 662 high schools in the state without any dropouts. This zero dropout rate in these high schools is due largely to the non-traditional schools. In the different high schools, the dropout rate relative to race varies.(One hundred, 2008) Even at the state level, there are disparities in the dropout rate per school when considered relative to the varying racial composition of the school and other closely related school factors. As such, understanding the disparities in d ropout rates relative to race requires study at the specific district level. The largest high school district in California is Kern County laid-back School District. The district covers 22 educational institutions serving at least 37,000 students and employing 3,500 educational workers. The school district ranks as the 17th in terms of the highest number of dropouts, with 1st as highest. A large number of the population in this school district is Hispanic comprising 68 percent, followed by Caucasian making up 44 percent. More than one-quarter of the population are living beyond the poverty line. (Orfield et al. , 2004) The racial composition of this school district provides an insightful locale in studying why there is disparity in the dropout rate between Caucasians and Hispanics. This district comprise a good venue in testing the applicability of different perspectives on the reasons for the racial gap for high school dropouts and the identification of other reasons for the differe nces in the dropout rates specifically between Caucasians and Hispanics.ReferencesCampbell, L. To What Extent Is the Commercialization of Sport a Positive Trend?
I feel that commercialisation of sports is bad as it denies the sport players of their privacy. As the players would be constantly under the limelight, enlarge of their lives, both the devout and the bad, argon released to the public. For example, in the recent Tiger Woods scandal involving his many mistresses, his private life was broad casted to the public, attracting many criticisms. Therefore, the commercialisation of sports is bad as it compromises the personal space of the athletes. Performance may non be the main focus in all sports. Some plurality may take up a sport just to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Many sports, such(prenominal) as running and swimming can be solitary and non-competitive. It does not matter if unity does not exercise well in the activity, as long as the individual feels that universe engaged in it brings benefit to his/her health. If the commercialization of sports were to cause people to develop a mindset that victory and quality of performance is of utmost importance, unnecessary pressure get out be imposed on the sportsman. Their mentality may change, resulting in them thinking that all those who can excel in the sport deserve to take part. This causes those who do sports for health benefits but argon not proficient to lose their penchant. Commercialization in this case is disadvantageous as it has the power to distort the mindset of people negatively. The psychological phobia may cause some people to be robbed of their chance to engage in a sport they like. The commercialization of sports has set in motion a alternate in paradigm in sports particularly those which involve teams. Players have become commodities to be traded and change for extravagant sums of m whizy and even clubs argon being sold to the highest bidders. The trouble with this is that while sport used to be about performance excellence and hard work, clubs may now simply obtain success by splurging astronomical amounts of money to buy the best players that money can buy. Players no longer stay loyal to the clubs that trained them and honed their skills but instead seek greener pastures where the soften is higher than the exorbitant amount it already is. The everywhereall result of this is a lack of sense of loyalty and passion and also makes a case for the supposition that success can be bought with money.Commercialisation of sports leads to the erosion of its values. No longer is the focus about doing ones best to win, it is now about wearing the branded goods. The promotional material of sports apparel or energy beverages gives the idea that without these goods, one cannot achieve their optimal point in sports. Some of these brands include Nike, Adidas and Gatorade. While they may tending the bodys comport and movement, it is the persons perseverence that will pull them through. Commercialisation is only an opposite form of distrcation. Hence, commercialisation of sports is bad.Commercialisation of sports is bad. It seems that playing periods had lost it true meaning. Sports is no longer a simple somatogenic exercise but involves many other issues. Instead, ones popularity and ability to appeal to the public is more(prenominal) important then ones talent and skills. For example Anna Kournikova is the biggest tennis start insofar she never won a grand slam, she gains a large amount of earnings through sponsorship alone Justin Henin(world no 1) is able to earn in a lifetime. This have shown the disparity between both individuals. Therefore, I conclude that commercialisation of sports have led to people placing more emphasis on looks then talent. Nowadays, if one was to declare themselves a fan of Chelsea football club, the reply you would get would most probably Before or After Roman Abramovich? Chelsea Football Club was bought over by a rich oil merchant in 2003, and this led to an interesting disadvantage of commercialisation in sport. Because of the large amount of capital that is provided to t hese clubs who are bought over by rich businessmen, they are able to buy their delegacy to success. This effectively destroys sportsmanship in the spirit of competition and causes unfair advantages to smaller teams that do not have that large an amount of capital at their disposal and thus are unable to spend as freely. This is not just limited to football. Sport that are taken over by sponsorship or under ownership will all suffer from this disadvantage. In F1, Ferrari and MacLaren are always the teams that occupy the depot position whereas teams with less renowned cars like Toyota rarely become champions.Hence, commercialization has been proven to disrupt and distort the playing field, providing unfair economical and thus other advantages to certain teams Commercialisation is becoming increasingly prevalent in sport and while this moral issue would generally be perceived as unequivocal with the availability of more money and resources, many believe that the idea of sport as an i ndustry has allowed amateur sport to become overly competitive and the jump-start of riots due to sports, is a recognizable consequence of this. This change in many ways allowed us to enjoy the level of professional sport we enjoy in Singapore straightaway. However, some believe the trickle down of commercialisation to amateur sports has increased the tendency to provide some type of reward with athletes adopting an attitude of good-natured no matter the cost. This is now even seen within the Olympics with athletes who live off their sport now competing in an amateur competition. Children in particular are today are socialised to value winning over playing fair. This discovers their moral knowledge and development, ultimately affecting their decision make. Commercialisation of sports is bad as it only advertise certain types of sports as well as its players. This makes people believe that the sport being advertised is more popular than the rest. Furthermore, peoples knowledge on the types of sports will be limited. The same applies to the player being internationally well known. The player may not be the best player but due to the Brobdingnagian commercialising of him, it may bring a perception that he is the best player. As a result, people are ignorant about the worthiness of the players and their feelings are being toyed with if it is known that their favourite player is just an average sportsman. Therefore, commercialisation of sports is bad.Commercialisation is bad due to the social impact it resulted. It have been noted that many kids straight off dream about making money through sports like basketball instead of just playing the game the love. For instance, a magazine named Slam negotiation about basketball and the players in NBA. It consists of an advertisement which asks What Sports Center do you watch. Then it says, Steve Francis watches the 6AM Sports Center. In my opinion, the advertisement is trying to use Steve Francis popularity to persuad e audiences to watch the Sports Center. This is one example of companies using sports figures to sell their products. In the advertisement, the picture of Steve Francis in his house, shows us what really is important to him the pool and golf course in his back meter through the window in his bedroom. Hence, it is partly due to commercialisation of sports that many people look up to him in terms of his material possessions and not the way he plays basketball. Positive There will be an increase in higher quality of performance as people strive to do get out and win in sports. Funding and business profits from the commercializtion of sports enable sportsmen to improve themselves and thus ring the sport to higher grounds. If a player lacks equipment or becoming training grounds like, say a tennis court, funding and money can provide the player with what he requires to improve his skills. Sports has to be commercialized in order to gain these funds, and thus the commercialization of s ports is good. Commercialisation plays an important role in the sport existence. It helps to provide the funds and resources needed for athletes to be able to perform at their fullest potential. Take a Track and Field athlete for example, without a proper pair of spikes the athlete cannot perform his best.Without commericalisation there will not be efficient athletes and without efficient athletes the sport cannot be exist. Thus commericalisation plays an important role in the sports industry to help keep sports alive by providing funds and resources needed. other benefit for commercialization of sports is that amateur level sports can benefit through commercialization of sport at the professional level. Commercialization has brought greater exposure to sports such as A-League, NRL, Super 14 and these sports at an amateur level benefit directly through commercialization and the exposure brings it to a professional level sporIndeed, sports helps to bring tax revenue not only for t he benefit of creating more capital for sports but also to generate more revenues for different industries. Modern sports links to commerce are highly visible. Stadiums and arenas bear the names of businesses, sponsors logos are appearing on athletes clothing and equipment and on the facilities they play in. Media companies pay a huge amount for the rights to dish out sports events, and advertisers pay to promote products during the screening of sports events. The revenue of a country would increase due to the commercialisation of sports as more international competitions will be held in the country. Advertisements of the tournament or competition would interest more foreigners and bring in greater revenue. This would be beneficial to the countrys economy. It was evident for the Beijing Olympics held in 2008 where many people turned up for the major event due to commercialisation hence, contributing to Chinas economic growth the facilities built could still be used to train more ath letes and sportsmen, hence, allowing them to perform at their full potential to prepare for future competitions. With better competitors, the sports event would be more exciting and entertaining to the viewers and this would generate revenue to the country especially if it is the one hosting the event. This would potentially lead to economic growth. In China, the commercialisation of sports was also a strategy to increase its soft power which is the ability to affect others to obtain the outcomes China wants. It has helped China to appear more attractive to other countries and this is the first step for China to build political relations with other countries, making it beneficial for them.Commercialization of sports has resulted in the increase in the number and quality of sports shown on television today. Without commercial sponsorship, people would not be able to occur their favourite sports from their homes as closely as they want. Thus commercialization of sports has benefited s ociety in providing entertainmen Through commercialisation, sports have been able to reach out to large audiences. With the help of the business community, there is funding and also international coverage from the media. If not, international sports events such as the Olympic Games or the Sea Games would not be do possible. It is due to this support, that athletes are able to compete and to strive for the very best in such key international events. Furthermore, sponsorships and partnerships can help sports create opportunities, such as the Olympic Games, to not only survive but thrive in todays much economically and work-driven world. Moreover, commercialisation of sports can give a good exposure of the sport to youths of todays society. The lives of many youths today revolve around technology, leading to a very mundane lifestyle. Thus this exposure may lead to them woof up certain sports, diversifying and making their lifestyle more active instead of just spending hours on end on t heir computers. Thus, sports should be an important cyclorama of our lives and the only way to ensure it continues to flourish, especially in todays context, is through commercialisation.

Fear of Heights
Many case-by-cases suffer from a phobia or a natural fear of something or a current situation that they whitethorn stool been in or are in currently. One of the most common phobias is having a fear of heights, also called Acrophobia. Acrophobia is often mislabeled as vertigo. Researchers have said that those with an extreme fear of heights, that the stronger their fear is, the bigger the error could be (Callaway, 2009). The fear of heights in different learning perspectivesSome oneness that is truly associated with acrophobia can go into panic mode when having to face that fear, frequently right away their first thought is to grab ahold of something to encourage them feel more secure, but then thither are others that will start shaking, sweating, holler, panic, or even break down and cry. When the individual that has this phobia starts to show all those signs that is their infinite responses starting to show. (Fritscher. 2011) The system that helps dismay us is the inborn stim ulus.(Ruden, 2012)At times their un instruct stimulus will kick in to say and make them panic to the extreme levels of them crawling around on all fours or even as so much lay in a fetal position (Fritscher, 2011). Although every person handles their phobia in a different manner, most still find it difficult to trust in their own sense of balance and when this occurs, they cant think decently because they are trying to deal with the fear of heights. (Fritscher, 2011). An example could be that someone went on vacation, they went to New York with their family.Anyone that goes to New York more than likely knows about the many skyscrapers, one being The Empire State building. That building in particular has 102 floors and has about 1, 860 steps from top to bottom and stands tall at 1, 454 feet (www. esbnyc. com). Now, most that have acrophobia, their un learn responses kick in, they start thinking the worse possible thoughts. If they are utilise the elevator to reach the different lev els building, then you will start to see the signs of an unconditioned response kick in.They will shake, sweat, hard to calm down and will have the fear of not being able to hold onto things. If they are using the steps to reach the different levels, that individual could very well start thinking if the possibility of a flak catcher occurring. Not knowing what level the fire could possibly be on, they start to panic and stop thinking clearly and if they are giving directions over a loud speaker, their fear is going to already be showing and they may not be listening very well to hear the instructions that are given. When we start thinking along the lines of conditioned responses, we could use visiting a skyscraper as an example as well. We can use an individuals response when they do start to panic, sweat, crawl on all fours or even be in the fetal position. We can associate the conditioned stimulus to their fear of heights and know when they show those symptoms that is their condit ioned response to facing their fear (McLeod, 2008).Certain situations may become helpful and if the individual trust you enough to help them, allowing them to face their fears can be beneficial, but if the individual starts to panic moving he or she to a safe location will allow them to relax and regain their thoughts (Ruden, 2012) When individuals have the fear of heights, it is critical for them to hear some sort of therapy to help treat the anxiety that comes along with phoebe (Ruden, 2012) When trying to find treatment for acrophobia, he or she will find that it is normal to go through a behavioral program. The program with help to slowly expose an individual to different situations such as taking them to heights, allowing the person to acquit their fears and concerns all the while of teaching that individual relaxation tips that will help them remain in a calm state and be able to help themselves to overcome the fear that they have (Bailey, 2008).

Fictitious Business Description Essay
The main purpose of this study is to discuss the importance of a Human imaging Information System (HRIS) in Castles Family eating place. We are therefore going to discuss on the HR problems in Castles Family Restaurant and how the carrying out of HRIS give enable the company to reduce costs together with ensuring efficiency in HR operations (Randall S. & Susan E. 2007). Business assessment Castles Family Restaurant in Northern California is the business to be assisted. It is large in size since it runs several branches in different locations and also has over ccc employees and this makes it to be a company. Depending on the size of the business, I have in my description assumed that Castles Family Restaurant is a since it has legion(predicate) employees and many branches. This assumption is based on the background of restaurant make environment and industry. Based on the basic speculation of business complexity and getting work done restaurants should employ many workers to ens ure that work is done efficiently like in the case of Castles Family Restaurant.Identified problems In the reexamination of the HR of Castles Family Restaurant, I have noted the following I have discovered that business does not have a man resource manager rather the operations manager served as HR manager. The company has not implemented HRIS which is important in monitoring the employees surgical process (Randall S. & Susan E. 2007). It is therefore evident that the HR is experiencing problems since the HR manager is unqualified and had so many duties to handle which is quite tiresome for him. Some of the functions of a HR admit manpower planning, recruitment and training of employees, hiring employees and monitoring employees to ensure high functioning. In my analysis I will focus much on monitoring of employees performance which will help me design a business plan. The main reason for focusing on this HR function is beca physical exertion the company seems to have failed in its implementation of HRIS which could be useful in reducing the HR managers extend time and travelling costs and that is why the HR manager has to travel to the branches to monitors employees performance.According to the resource-based theory of Human Resources, strategic management of the company resources leads to its success (Randall S. & Susan E. 2007). Increase in the costs incurred by the company is wastage of company resources since a better method terminate be implemented to reduce these costs and improve companys performance. HRIS needs assessment According to Michael J. & Mohan T. (2008), HRIS is an online solution used by Human Resources to enter data, track data and manage accounting and payroll functions of the company. The main purpose of implementing HRIS in a company is to reduce the manual workload in HR administrative activities through and through tracking existing workers. Implementation of this software will create a more efficient process from the HR in the maven that it will help the HR manager to manage information about the employees, analyze employee information, manage resumes and new applications and also complete payroll integration with otherwise financial accounting software in the company (Michael J. Mohan T. 2008).Automating all HR functions saves a lot of time and resources and hence increasing efficiency in HR operations as suggested by the resource-based theory of Human Resources. By implementing HRIS in Castles Family Restaurant, the HR manager will not have to travel to all company branches to monitor and answer employees questions rather he will perform his duties in his office. All questions that need to be answered will be answered through this software.Application or implementation of HRIS in Castles Family Restaurant will therefore enable the HR manager to complete all of his tasks in a cost-effective manner. Conclusion As a HR consultant, I would advise Castles Family Restaurant to implement HRIS as this softwar e will solve much of the HR problems and hence leading to reduced costs and improved HR efficiency. Implementation of HRIS will make the company to effectively use it resources for better operations.

Food Safety and Hyienic Practices of Street Food Essay
DISCUSSIONThe street aliment industry plays an important role in developing countries in meeting the food demands of the urban dwellers. Street foods feed millions of people daily with a wide compartmentalisation of foods that are relatively cheap and easily accessible (Latham, 1997). However there are significant reports of health problems that have been associated with these street foods(Muleta and Ashenafi (2001) Ashenafi (1995) El-Sherbeeny et al (1985) Abdussalam and Kaferstein, (1993) Mensah et al (2002) and Omemu and Aderoju (2008). Street foods are sources of nutrition for many low-income classifys at affordable prices in large urban areas.Nevertheless, there are also several health hazards associated with them. These foods could be primary(prenominal) vehicle for transmission of severe and fatal diseases that could be life threatening.Contamination of these foods could result from pre or institutionalise cooking contamination from the food handlers. Street food vendor s are often unlicensed, untrained in food safety, food hygiene and sanitation, and work under crude unsanitary conditions (FAO 1990). Muinde and Kuria (2005) in their test in Nairobi, Kenya frame that over thirty-five percent of the vendors belonged to the age category of 20-25 years. Sixty percent of the vendors were male while 40% were female. Sixty-two percent of the vendors interviewed had primary education and below, 36.3% had secondary education while only 1.3% had college education. In our study we found women made up 66.67% of the vendors while males made up 33.33% who fell into the average age group of 31-40 years with mean age of 41.23 years. This is in contrast with their findings. In Accra the street food mickle was conducted by children aged 10 years and by women aged.

Morality the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Essay
For example, throughout the novel huckabackleberry Finn , plant Twain depicts society as a structure that has become little more than a compendium of degraded rules and precepts that defy logic. This faulty logic bitifests itself early, when the new judge in town allows Pap to notice custody of huckaback. The law backs that Judge Thatcher up and helps him to keep me out o my property. The judge privileges Paps rights to his son over Hucks welfare. Clearly, this decision comments on a system that puts a etiolated mans rights to his propertyhis slavesover the welfare and freedom of a b need man.Whereas a lecturer in the 1880s might have overlooked the moral absurdity of giving a man custody of another man, however, the mirroring of this situation in the granting of rights to the immoral Pap over the lovable Huck forces the lector to think more closely about the meaning of slavery. In implicitly comparing the charter of slaves to the plight of Huck at the hands of Pap, Twain de monstrates how impossible it is for a society that owns slaves to be just, no matter how civilized that society believes and proclaims itself to be.In addition, childhood has been described by the author, as an important factor in the theme of moral education only a child is open-minded enough to undergo the gracious of development that Huck does. It was a close place. I tookup the permitter Id indite to Miss Watson, and held it in my hand. I was a-trembling, because Id got to decide, forever, betwixt two things, and I know it. I studied a minute, sort of holding my breath, and then says to myself All right then, Ill go to blazingEm dash intended here? and tore it up. It was awful thoughts and awful words, but they was said. And I let them stay said and never thought no more about reformingIt, describes the moral climax of the novel. Jim has been interchange by the Duke and Dauphin, and is being held by the Phelpses spending hisreturn to his rightful owner.Thinking that being at piazza in St. Petersburg, even if it means Jim result still be a slave and Huck will be a captive of the Widow, would be better than being in his current state of disclose far from home, Huck composes a letter to Miss Watson, telling her where Jim is. When Huck thinks of his friendship with Jim, however, and realizes that Jim will be sold down the river anyway, he decides to tear up the letter. The logical consequences of his action, rather than the lessons society has taught him, drive Huck. Huck decides that going to hell, if it means following his gut and not societys hypocritical and cruel principles, is a better option than going to everyone elses heaven. This is Hucks true break with the world slightly him. At this point he decides to help Jim escape slavery once and for all, and he realizes that he, Huck, will not be re-entering the civilized world he has moved beyond it morally.Since Huck and Tom are young, their days lends a sense of play to their actions, which excu ses them in certain ways and also heightens the profundity of the novels commentary on slavery and society. Huck and Tom know better than the adults around them, but they lack the guidance that a proper family and community should have offered them.Furthermore, Huck and Tom encounter individuals who seem substantially (Sally Phelps, for example), but Twain takes care to show us that person as a prejudiced slave-owner. sermoniser be hanged, hes a fraud and a liar. The shakiness of the justice systems that Huck encounters lies at the heart of societys problems terrible acts go unpunished, yet frivolous crimes, such as drunkenly shouting insults, lead to executions Sherburns speech to the mob that has come to lynch him accurately summarizes the go through of society given in this book rather than maintaining collective welfare, society is marked by cowardice, a lack of logic, and profound selfishness.

Shaka Zulu
Shaka Zulu was the first son of the questiontain Senzangakhona and Nandi, a daughter of Bhebhe, the past chief of the Elangeni state, born near present-day Melmoth, KwaZulu-Natal Province. He was conceived out of wedlock somewhere between 1781 and 1787. Shaka al almost surely spent his childhood in his mothers settlements. Shaka served as an Mthethwa warrior for perhaps as long as ten years, and terrific himself with his courage, though he did not, as legend has it, rise to great position.Dingiswayo, having himself been exiled subsequently a failed attempt to dismiss his father, had, along with a number of other groups in the region (including Mabhudu, Dlamini, Mkhize, Qwabe, and Ndwandwe, many probably responding to slaving pressures from southern Mozambique) helped contrive new ideas of military and social organization. On the death of Senzangakhona, Dingiswayo aided Shaka to defeat his brother and assume leadership in 1816. He became the leader of the Zulu Kingdom from 181 6 through 1828.As Shaka became more respected by his people, he was able to spread his ideas with greater ease. Because of his background as a soldier, Shaka taught the Zulus that the most effective way of turn powerful quickly was by conquering and controlling other tribes. His teachings greatly influenced the social outlook of the Zulu people. The Zulu tribe soon developed a warrior mind frame, which do it easier for Shaka to build up his armies.Dingane and Mhlangana, Shakas half-brothers, appear to have made at least two attempts to assassinate Shaka onward they succeeded, with perhaps support from Mpondo elements, and some disaffected iziYendane people. patch the British colonialists considered his regime to be a future threat, allegations that white traders wished his death are problematic granted that Shaka had granted concessions to whites prior to his death, including the right to settle at Port Natal (now Durban). Shaka had made enough enemies among his receive people to hasten his demise. It came relatively quickly after the devastation caused by Shakas erratic behavior after the death of his mother Nandi. According to Donald Morris in this mourning period Shaka ordered that no crops should be deep-seated during the following year, no milk was to be used, and any woman who became pregnant was to be killed along with her husband. At least 7,000 people who were deemed to be insufficiently grief-stricken were executed, though it wasnt restricted to humans, cows were slaughtered so that their calves would bop what losing a mother felt like. The Zulu monarch was killed by three assassins sometime in 1828 September is the most often cited date, when almost all available Zulu manpower had been sent on yet another plentifulness sweep to the north. Some older histories have doubted the military and social innovations customarily attributed to Shaka, denying them outright, or attributing them variously to European influences. More modern researchers argu e that such explanations fall of a sudden, and that the general Zulu culture which included other tribes and clans, contained a number of practices that Shaka could have drawn on to fulfill his objectiveswhether in raiding, conquest or hegemony.Shaka is often verbalize to have been dissatisfied with the long throwing assegai, and credited with introducing a new variant of the weapon the iklwa, a short stabbing ray with a long, sword-like spearhead. Shaka is also supposed to have introduced a larger, heavier shield made of lash and to have taught each warrior how to use the shields left side to hook the enemys shield to the right, exposing his ribs for a fatal spear stab. The throwing spear was not discarded but used as an initial missile weapon before close contact with the enemy when the shorter stabbing spear was used in hand to hand combat.

I think he did that for one good reason to open the mind of his family that during the geezerhood of helping them and change surface sacrificing for their benefits, he didnt even murmured or ask something in return coming from them. The Nazi treatment of Jews in the hand of Germany headed by Hitler was violent and so bloody. Hitler called the Jews as his enemies. Enemy be as opponent or hostile nation. When we called somebody as an opponent it simply meant that we must do something that would hurt them, made them miserable and finally killed them. These are the objectives of Hitler to all his enemies. He pursued boycotts for the Jewish shops and businesses in 933 in 1934, the law banned all the Jewish form public places plundered the Jewish teachers, accomplished servants and lawyers. Some of the maltreatments were removing the privilege to the Jews to become a German citizen restriction of inter racial marriageworks and holding property in Germany the assassination of many Jews and yet penalizing them. The reason why all of these things happened because of stingy desire and greediness. These are not good if many would suffer and be affected by greed and hatred. Hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group is considered as the mean of anti semitism. The anti Semitism in Europe was almost the same predicament of that in the Nazi, Germany. The hatred to the Jews thats inside their heart becomes deeper and deeper. One example of this was a soccer match between the Israeli and Belgian national teams in Hasselt, Belgium, when Muslim fans waved Hamas and Hezbollah banners, and chanted Jews to the gas chambers and Strangle the Jews (taken from the Cancer of anti Semitism in Europe). We can conclude in this simple illustration that the hatred developed in the by still lingers in the present situation. The suppression of ones freedom and stepping onto the human rights of a psyche developed them in two privateities they may become weak and depe ndent while on the other hand a person may possess a strong will to fight and contend himself from his enemies. According to Iris Bruce and Cassill, many interpretations of Franz Kafkas writings have accentuated their psychological, religious, existential and moral dimensions and initiated a whole genre of the kqfkaesque which summon up associations of the grotesque and absurd but is rarely associated with a sense of humour.A Kafkaesque, or Kafka-like situation macrocosm one of a strange or nightmarish quality become a part of the language from Kafkas name. Generally, after World War II (and fundamentally due(p) to the prominence of New Criticism and Existentialism in the literary academies during this time), a Kafka myth has crystallized which stresses Kafkas existential anguish interpretations, be they religious, phenomenological, existentialist, symbolic or allegorical, center on the psychology of the author, who is presented as being overcome bythe sense of absurdity and alie nation so prevalent in twentieth. Where this metaphysical access code in literary translation as a discipline has been most detrimental is in its furiousness on the universal rather than on specific textual elements, in the fascination with Kafkas personal neuroses, in the mingling of psychological speculation and literary criticism which frequently led to a assumed confusion of empirical and literary selves and most importantly in its overall disregard of the playful and humourous dimension in Kafkas texts. ConclusionKafkas wanted to share the reality that is happening into our life or others life particularly in our connection nowadays. The Metamorphosis was all about Gregor Samsa. This story emphasised the way a man entered the world of detest and how discrimination created hostility. Even his own family tired to suppressed, despised and hurt him not only physically but mentally. The same with our society, the persons who are in the authority sometimes take advantage of eve rything even to the point that they stepped onto the human rights and privilege of a person.Loving something or individual because you profit from them will not be a good foundation because what if the proceed is gone, are you departure to hate him or still love him? Conflict is always present if the environment that we used to check-out procedure with is not that aware that justice must be offer to everyone. Hurting people or even killing them without important reason, its simply because of selfish desire and hatred wont provoke any sense in reality. Instead of doing those things, why dont we learn to love and exonerate them? In the end, were going to realize that love is the answer in any changes or metabolic process that will happen in to our life.Love conquers hatred. How Does a Person Live a Meaningful Life Assignment
How Does a Person Live a Meaningful Life - Assignment ExampleA meaningful vitality is a life lived in almsgiving both on the inside and on the outside, and more than anything, should be a individual not only of reflectivity but also of action. The wizard quality that makes roundbody live a meaningful life is the life of good-will. Unless someone is kind, he will never be able to fully understand another person. When one is kind, he will be able to overhaul other people not only finished his acts of humanity but just by be a kind person to them. There are three advantages to being kind. First, through his example, he female genital organ inspire others to be also kind to their neighbors. Whenever there is a natural disaster that strikes a particular(prenominal) place, we set upnot help but be inspired by people who lend a helping fall out to the victims and we are then filled with their inspiring kindness, and then we then help these people. Had it not been for the kind ness of some people, not many other people would decide to make donations to a particular charitable organization. A second advantage of kindness is that it is its own reward, which means that the moment one shows kindness, he must already be happy with what he is doing. Moreover, in a supernatural point of view, those people who do acts of kindness sincerely are actually even rewarded more by God. Although a truly kind person does not expect any reward for what he has done, somehow God rewards him in secret. A triad reason for why kindness defines meaning in life is that when one is kind, he will be able to get to know so many people whose lives he will touch and who can help fill his happiness. Also, in the realm of the supernatural, perhaps this is where one can find someone who he can love for the rest of his life, or he may be able to help. Indeed, with kindness nix can go wrong. The backer is an example of someone who acts with kindness. He exemplifies kindness through his work and through his actions. The saint touches peoples lives only through her kindness. It is actually not his or her faith that moves the bend but her kindness, and this kindness cannot be without action. The reason is that kindness cannot be the kindness that we know if it does not command sincere giving of oneself and of ones time and resources. In short, the action aspect of kindness is already embedded in its name and in its definition. You cannot therefore define, explain or talk about kindness without demonstrating it. This is also the reason why it is just natural for the saint to be kind and to exemplify kindness. The saint is actually the living example of kindness. Aside from kindness, another factor that makes life a meaningful one is that of sincerity, for without sincerity, there is no desire to be kind. Sincerity therefore is the one thing that determines the degree of kindness that one wants to express to someone who needs it. How then can sincerity be attained? A s Plato taught us, we need to constantly hypothesize our lives and we need to continue asking questions. As long as we invent our lives, we then try to understand how different or how similar our actions are to our true intentions. Thus, through contemplation we will at least have an idea whether what we are doing is sincere or not. The philosopher Plato has once asked the Greeks to contemplate on their lives and to keep asking questions in order to find out whether what they were doing were still moral or not anymore. From this, one would like to think that Plato was asking the Greeks also the question of finding out whether what they were doing on the outside were still in synch with what they had been wanting to do on the inside. For if these two things are similar, then that is a powerful combination that yields fruitful action and that if

Musical Texture - Assignment ExampleIn perceive to the Hallelujah Chorus from YouTube, the texture seems very different than what is in the textbook. This gives the strength and emphasizes this particular section. The texture in the interpretation from within the textbook lists this as monophonic. The second time that this sung, it is very clearly done in monophonic texture which is palpable on the score as much as heard in the music. The third time it is sung in the textbook, it is clearly in polyphonic as it is sung in contrast with the lyric Hallelujah. This is the equivalent in the version on YouTube which occurs in a long section that almost sounds similar to canon. The YouTube version is the same as the text for The Kingdom of this world becomes. The lyrics King of Kings and Lor d of Lords is repeatedly monophonic until it begins to bend dexter into a polyphonic section that includes early(a) lyrics as well, which is similar to the textbook version. The monophonic portions of the score look on one line, while the homophonic portions appear separated into multiple lines on the monophonic YouTube score. In this example, both methods are used in order to show the use of different instrumentation. In other words, when the chorus is in polyphonic mode, they get one line, but when multiple instruments are used to bring in this sound they are on different lines.

Shifting the Social Balance - shew ExampleThis shift represents a major step in the development of civilization because it focuses on heavy(a) evidence, observable fact, and verifiable conclusions. Science opened up the possibility of questioning long-held beliefs and examining them for truth while the discernment made it possible to hold these debates in ordinary, even refuting concepts that proved inaccurate. noveltyary tools and estimates illustrate how the scientific Revolution influenced society while the Enlightenment firmly established science and reason as the only pellucid standard on which to base worldly human thought. Copernicus, somewhat by accident, touched off the Scientific Revolution in the early 16th century when he wrote to Pope Paul III for lose in his recent astrological findings. Using solid math, appropriate research and direct observation, Copernicus concluded that the reason revolved almost the sun rather than, as the Church would have people believ e, the Sun revolving around the Earth (Copernicus 1543 cited in Levick, 2004 524). His evidence was meticulously outlined and his conclusions were skillful, but his ideas were introduced to a mostly unreceptive public who still preferred to believe they were central to Gods creation. Galileo, introducing some of these same ideas, would gain greater exposure for the idea thanks to the recent invention of the reach. This made it possible for other people to go and observe with their protest eyes the rotations both Galileo and Copernicus had outlined - helped a bit with Galileos high-class star-gazing parties (Kaku, 2008). Through a simple telescope such as those used by Galileo and his friends, it is possible to see the craters of the moon and the orbits of some of the moons of Jupiter. These observations, combined with sound mathematic principles, made it possible for Galileo, and Copernicus, to prove reality. All reasonings about mechanics have their foundations in geometry, in wh ich I do not see that largeness and basebornness make large circles subject to properties different from those of small ones (Levick, 2004 322).

Civil War - Essay ExampleThe sovereignty they believed was their right was unendingly threatened in the period leading up to the Civil War as the balance of former moved from the gray States to the conglutination. It was felt that these States were being eroded as their ability to self-determine slowly changed. Particularly the Federal States greater voting power was questioned by Southern leaders such as John Calhoun, who advocated coitus interruptus from the Union if certain issues were not resolved. He argued that the Union could eventually only be held together by the superior numbers, and the superior wealth of the Northern States as they forced the South to remain in the Union (Calhoun, 1850).It was particularly in the Nullification ordinances that the South expressed resistance to Northern dominance. For example in 1828, a Tariff was imposed on foreign imports by the Federal Government. The Southern States argued that this tariff was intended to raise domestic manufactu rers and only certain foreign manufacturers, primarily based on Northern business interests. In fact, it was felt that the Tariff of 1928 exceeded its just powers and the true meaning and intent of the Constitution (Calhoun, 1832, & The Constitution of the United States of the States Overview, 2012). Thus Ordinances of Nullification were published by the Southern States (for example the South Carolina Ordinance of Nullification) declaring that this and other federal official laws would not be honored by these States. The Norths response can be summarized in the words of President Andrew Jackson, that United States laws are paramount to State constitutions and laws. (Jackson, 1932)Similarly, slavery was threatened, and consequently so was the counseling of life, economic prosperity and a perceived equality with all the States in the Union in the Southern States.
